🎆 Worried About Missing Out On The Best New Year Destinations?

Happy New Year 2025!🎉

Curious where everyone's was heading to ring in 2025?

Let's talk about Phuket.

Between 28th December and 1st January, Phuket is set to welcome over 230,000 visitors.

Source: Bangkok Post

That's a massive influx, injecting nearly 8 billion ← (yes, with a ‘b’) Baht into the local economy.

Here's the breakdown:

  • Visitor Count: 230,000+ tourists over five days.

  • Economic Impact: Approximately 8 billion baht in revenue.

  • Average Spend: Around 35,000 baht per person.

  • Daily Expenses: Tourists spending about 9,000 baht each day.

  • Hotel Occupancy: Over 80% occupancy rate during this period.

Phuket International Airport is also gearing up for a surge, expecting to handle 33,000 passengers daily.

This highlights Thailand's appeal during the festive season.

If you're planning a trip, consider:

  • Advance Bookings: With high occupancy rates, securing accommodation early is crucial.

  • Budgeting: Be prepared for increased expenses due to the holiday surge.

  • Alternative Destinations: Explore less crowded spots if you prefer a quieter experience.

Phuket's vibrant celebrations and beautiful beaches make it a top choice for many.

But with the expected crowds, planning ahead is key to a smooth experience.

Whether you're joining the masses in Phuket or seeking a different adventure, make the most of this New Year period.

💱 Is Thailand Missing Out On The Crypto Wave?

Concerned about how the country can stay competitive in the digital age?

Last week, we talked about the idea of turning Phuket into a Bitcoin payment sandbox.

Well, things just got interesting. Here's the latest update.

Former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra has proposed a pilot Bitcoin payment project in Phuket, aiming to boost tourism and attract tech-savvy visitors.

Now, Binance's is backing this initiative, urging the Bank of Thailand to consider it seriously.

Here's the gist:

  • Phuket as a Bitcoin Sandbox: The idea is to use Phuket as a testing ground for Bitcoin payments in the tourism sector.

  • Binance's Support: Nirun Fuwattananukul, CEO of Gulf Binance, believes this move could enhance Thailand's competitiveness and align with global crypto adoption trends.

  • Regulatory Considerations: Currently, Thailand restricts payments to its local currency. Introducing Bitcoin payments would require careful assessment of risks and benefits by the Bank of Thailand.

  • Learning from Others: Countries like the U.S. and Japan have already implemented Bitcoin payments. Thailand can learn from their experiences to tailor a solution that fits its unique context.

In a nutshell, this pilot project could position Thailand as a regional leader in digital innovation, attracting more tourists and investors.

But it requires a balanced approach to ensure economic stability and consumer protection.

Stay tuned as this story develops.

🌅 3 Less Crowded Sunset Spots if You Prefer a Quieter Experience

Ever feel like the best sunset spots are always packed?

Looking for a peaceful place to watch the sun dip below the horizon in Phuket?

I've got you covered.

Here are some secluded spots to catch a stunning sunset without the crowds:

Cape Panwa

  • Cape Panwa: If you’re looking for something a bit fancy, Cape Panwa has you covered. Think luxury resorts, rooftop bars, and zero crowds.

What makes it special?

  • The sunsets here are calm and reflective, not the fiery displays you’ll see at Promthep.

  • It’s perfect for a sunset dinner or a quiet glass of wine.

  • You’re far from the hustle, which makes it feel like a little slice of paradise.

Stay at one of the nearby resorts to wake up and do it all again tomorrow.

  • Kata Noi Beach: If Promthep Cape feels like Times Square, Kata Noi Beach is your hidden oasis. This spot is all about soft sand, gentle waves, and a peaceful vibe. It’s perfect if you’re not into the whole tourist chaos scene.

What makes it great?

  • The horizon is wide and uninterrupted, so every seat is the front row.

  • It’s easy to bring a blanket, crack open a cold drink, and let the evening unfold.

  • Families? Couples? Solo travellers? This beach fits everyone’s style.

  • Ya Nui Beach: Let me tell you about Ya Nui Beach. Small, quiet, and ridiculously photogenic, Ya Nui is where you go for an off-the-beaten-path sunset.

Here’s why you’ll love it:

  • The beach is nestled between two hills, giving it a cosy, tucked-away vibe.

  • Low tide reveals interesting rock formations—perfect for unique sunset shots.

  • There’s a casual, chill energy here. You can just be.

These spots offer not just beautiful sunsets, but also a chance to escape the hustle and bustle.

So, next time you're in Phuket and craving a quiet sunset experience, consider these hidden gems.
