FUN FACT

Lost in Translation—Thai Style! 🇹🇭

Ever felt a tiny bit annoyed but not quite angry? Congrats — you just had your first brush with งอน (ngaawn)! It’s that adorable sulk you give a loved one when they forget your birthday or scroll through their phone mid-convo. Not a tantrum, just a gentle emotional nudge.

Then there’s น้อยใจ (náuy-jai) — the quiet ache of feeling overlooked, like when your cat cuddles everyone but you. And let’s not forget เกรงใจ (greeng-jai), the ultimate Thai courtesy move: turning down help because you don’t want to impose (even if you secretly really need it).

These untranslatable gems show that Thai isn’t just a language — it’s a mood, a mindset, and a masterclass in emotional nuance. Mai bpen rai! (Don’t worry about it!)

The Rise of the Coffee Rave: From Buzz to Beat in Phuket

A Coffee Rave event by Central Phuket last September.

Who needs tequila shots when you’ve got espresso shots? The coffee rave—part café culture, part daytime dance party—is brewing from London and New York to Bangkok and now Phuket. Think deep house at noon, flat whites in hand, and sunlight instead of strobe lights.

This is the sober-curious crowd’s remix of nightlife: caffeine, connection, and festival vibes that end before sunset.

With its café-hopping scene and surf-meets-soul energy, Phuket is the perfect stage. From Central Phuket’s coffee rave to Surf Point’s sunlit sessions, the island’s groove is going daylight.

Coffee is the new clubbing—and it smells amazing.

Sol Phuket has softly opened at Boat Avenue Lakefront, Cherngtalay, serving vibrant breakfasts from 8 AM, leisurely brunches till 4 PM, and an all-day menu until 11 PM. Expect lake views, laid-back vibes, and fresh, flavourful plates. Open Tuesday–Sunday, 8 AM–11 PM. Facebook

OUT & ABOUT

Glück at Laguna

There’s a quiet magic around Laguna, Bang Tao — where canals meet sea breeze and mornings linger. Drift along the waterways to Canal Village, the heart of this lakeside enclave, and you’ll find Glück Artisan Food and Coffee — a cozy slice of German “happiness” by the water.

The aroma of fresh pretzels, espresso, and warm bread sets the tone for hearty sandwiches, soups, and slow-afternoon cakes. After brunch, stroll to Bang Tao Beach and let the turquoise horizon finish what Glück started — a reminder that joy can be simple.
