When tropical storms loom, Phuket locals know how to stay cool. Here’s how islanders prep and keep calm during storm season.
Storm Prep 101:
Stock Up, Don’t Panic: It’s all about grabbing the essentials—water, canned goods, flashlights, and batteries. Locals know the stores can get a bit crazy, but hey, there’s no need to clear the shelves like it’s the apocalypse!
Boat Owners’ Dilemma: Got a boat? Time to secure that bad boy. Mooring it up at a sheltered spot or hauling it ashore can save you some major headaches when the winds start to howl.
Roof Wrangling: Those thatched roofs and bamboo bungalows are dreamy, but they’re no match for storm winds. Locals check for leaks, strap down anything that could fly off, and reinforce weak spots before the rain kicks in.
Stay Informed, Stay Safe: Islanders are pros at keeping an ear on weather reports, with alerts from the Thai Meteorological Department helping them know when to batten down the hatches.
Island Hacks:

Following the success at Nai Harn Beach, Yanui Beach and Layan Beach also saw an energetic crowd of expats and locals this week, who came together to keep the island pristine. With plastic bottles, fishing nets, and other debris cleared, the beach is sparkling again!

There’s a new art and graffiti shop in town, founded by some of the coolest local artists! 🎨 Under Pressure Shop at 22 Patak Road in Karon is the spot for street art lovers. Whether you’re looking for spray paint, cool merch, or just want to check out some epic artwork by local pros, this cozy space has got it all. Plus, they even host events and workshops where you can learn and connect with the masters. 🎨✨ If you're into wall art and creativity, this is your place to be!
