☀️ The Island’s Quiet Season Just Started — Don’t Miss This

Everything you didn’t know you needed for a smoother, sunnier week in Phuket.

Hi There, Island Adventurers!

Welcome the month of May, the start of the ‘green’ season!

Here’s your weekly dose of Phuket goodness: events, tips, and local secrets to make island life smoother and sweeter.

But first…

☀️ What’s the Weather Like?

Phuket’s got a sun-soaked stretch ahead—but with a twist. ☀️

Expect sizzling highs of 33–34°C most days, with golden mornings and occasional afternoon thunderstorms. UV levels are peaking (up to 11!), so bring the sunscreen—and maybe keep that umbrella in the bag too. 🌦️

Light breezes from the north and west are keeping things calm, and the sea’s sitting warm around 30–31°C. Surf’s gentle with low wave heights, so it’s a great week for beach walks, snorkeling, or lazy sunset swims. 🏖️🌊

This week’s highlights:

  • Top Story: Why travellers in the know visit Phuket during the rainy season
(Hint: it’s not just for the discounts)

  • Headlines: Fewer tourists, more surprises at Phuket Airport
Plus: a shake near Nicobar and something big brewing in June...

  • Business Spotlight: A school in Rawai that’s quietly changing the game for little learners

  • Hidden Gem: An island just 10 minutes from Rawai... and almost no one’s on it 👀

Let’s dive in 👇

TOP STORY

Why Phuket’s Low Season (May–Oct) Might Be the Best Time to Visit

You might ask:
Why visit Phuket from May to October when it rains?
What’s the point if you can’t swim in the sea every day?
How can a holiday still be good with storms in the mix?

Here’s the truth: Phuket in the low season is quieter, cheaper, and still full of great things to do.

💰 Save Money, Get More

From May to October, Phuket is in its low (or “green”) season.

That means:

  • Lower prices on villas, flights, and tours

  • Less crowds at beaches, markets, and sights

  • More peace and space for you and your family

The island is still warm—just expect some rain between sunny skies.

🌿 What Can You Do?

Even if it rains, Phuket has loads to offer.

  • Explore the island – green hills, waterfalls, Big Buddha, temples

  • Visit animals – elephants, monkeys, and sea creatures at the aquarium

  • Enjoy the markets – especially the Sunday night market in Phuket Old Town

  • Go shopping – from June to August, there’s a huge sale with up to 80% off

  • Try something new – like Thai cooking, Muay Thai training, or the fun Upside Down House

🛶 Stay Active (If You Want)

Rainy season doesn’t mean you have to stay inside:

  • 9 great golf courses

  • Jungle hikes and boat trips

  • Yoga, Beach Volley and Marathon (June)

  • Yacht race in July for sailing fans

Or just relax with a Thai massage while the kids do something fun.

🌅 Rain = Better Sunsets

Low season sunsets are some of the best you’ll see.
The clouds make the sky more colourful.
And yes—rainbows and thunderstorms can be beautiful too.

So, Should You Go?

If you only want perfect weather and packed beaches, maybe wait.

But if you like:

  • Saving money

  • Avoiding crowds

  • Seeing a greener, calmer side of Phuket

Then the low season might be the best time to go.

Phuket Airport Maintains Robust Traffic

While Chinese passengers dropped by roughly a third at Phuket airport, traffic remained robust from other countries such as Russia and Turkey, which should help the airport secure 18 million passengers this year.

Monchai Tanode, general manager of the airport, predicts 1,000-2,000 inbound Chinese passengers daily, decreasing from more than 3,000 during the high season. Continue Reading Here

BUSINESS HIGHLIGHT

ABC International Nursery & Pre School

🧠 Where Do You Send Your Kids to Learn, Laugh, and Actually Grow?

Let’s be honest—choosing a nursery or pre-school in Phuket can feel like spinning a roulette wheel.

Who’s actually paying attention to your kid?
What’s the school really like when you’re not there?
How do you know they’re not just babysitting with YouTube on?

ABC International Nursery & Pre School isn’t that kind of place. It’s built different.

🚸 Why Parents Keep Coming Back to ABC

Here’s what makes this Rawai-based nursery stand out:

  • Ages 18 months to 6 years – This isn’t just crayons and naps. Your kid starts developing real skills.

  • Split-level learning – The older kids (3–6) aren’t stuck on the basics. They’re easing into Maths, English, and Science while building creativity and confidence.

  • No-sugar policy – Yep, rare in Phuket. They’re serious about healthy habits, not just playtime.

  • Mixed British and Thai staff – Real cultural balance, not token diversity.

  • Learning zones that don’t suck – Think: paddling pools, sleep rooms, swings, sand pits, climbing gear, kid-sized dining rooms… the works.

👩‍🏫 How It Feels Walking Into ABC

One mum said it best:

“From day one, I felt like I was walking into a home, not a school. The team, the vibe, the kids—it all just clicked.” — Céline

Another?

“My kids actually want to go to school. The sand pit, the swings, the staff… they love it.” — Nicky

That’s not an accident. It’s because the people behind ABC aren’t winging it. There’s structure, purpose, and genuine care.

👇 TL;DR – Why ABC Works

  • Small class sizes = more attention

  • Health-first attitude = fewer sugar crashes

  • Real early learning = smoother jump to primary

  • It’s in Soi Anna, Rawai – easy to find, easy to love

PHUKET SPOTLIGHT

Just off Rawai Beach, south of Phuket.
A quick ride by longtail boat—about 10–15 minutes tops.
But most tourists don’t go.
I’ve lived in Phuket for years and barely hear anyone talk about it.

It’s still calm, clean, and almost empty.
You’ve got:

  • Soft sand and shady trees

  • Two main beaches, both peaceful

  • No cars, no noise, no rush

Just perfect for a getaway session.

That’s it from us for now.

Got something cool happening? A story, event, or little-known spot worth sharing?
We’re all ears. Just reply or send us a quick DM—if it’s about Phuket, we want to hear it. Always open to fresh voices and local gems.

Take care, bring a sunscreen if you can, and we’ll catch you next week.

Cheers,
