Hey Phuket Fam,

Still splashing through a few leftover rains (that mid-November flooding was a mood), but the island is officially in high season mode. Roads are busier, beaches are filling up, and new cafés and events are popping up everywhere.

The festive buzz is here too — Christmas dinners, NYE parties, and holiday menus are already rolling out across Phuket.

Grab your sunnies and your poncho, and let’s dive into what’s new, happening, and opening this week. 🌴

WEATHER IN PHUKET

Cloudy and warm with scattered storms through mid-week before sunnier skies return.

New Rawai / Nai Harn Developments to Watch

A deep comparison of Rawai + Nai Harn’s nine new projects, written with local insight and real data.

Thinking about buying property in Rawai or Nai Harn? The south of Phuket is going through a real shift right now — and several new projects are already reshaping the market. Prices are climbing, but so is quality. We pulled together the key numbers from every major off-plan development launching in 2025 to 2027 and there are some interesting standouts.

Some highlights:

  • Cielo and Adora now lead the sub-4M THB entry point for walkable, modern condos. By Title all down Rawai Beachfront.

  • Babylon Sky Garden II offers sea views from just 4.25M THB — a rare find under 150K THB/sqm.

  • Dominion Rawai is one of the few projects still offering 8% guaranteed returns + developer financing for 10 years!

  • The One Nai Harn has a full hotel license, meaning safer Airbnb rentals — something most buyers don’t realise the value.

  • Rawayana’s beachfront village concept has become the premium pick, with larger 2–3BR units and villas now starting from 8.5M THB. Still some available.

  • And if you’re shopping villas: Monetaria is quietly one of the best values, starting at 22.25M THB but offering co-working, a gym, and pickleball — unusual for a villa project.

If you want to understand what’s actually worth looking at this year — and how the projects compare on price per sqm, ROI, and local insights — this guide makes it easy.

Train, Stay, Repeat: Why Everyone’s Talking About the DTV Visa

If you’ve ever dreamed of staying in Phuket longer than a stamp-run allows, the fairly new Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) might be your golden ticket. One of the coolest perks? You can now secure long-term stays simply by joining a Muay Thai training program. Yes — kickpads, palm trees, and five-year visa flexibility all in one neat little package.

Phuket’s gyms are already leaning in, offering DTV-friendly training plans that let you stay up to 180 days per trip (and the visa itself is valid for five years). It’s ideal for anyone who wants to mix fitness, beach life, and a more grounded island routine without the usual visa shuffle.

If you’ve been thinking about levelling up your Muay Thai and settling into Phuket life a little longer, this might be your sign. 🥊🌴

FUN FACT

Phuket’s Glittering Past

Before the beach clubs and sunset selfies, Phuket’s sparkle came from something a little less tropical: tin. Back in the 18th and 19th centuries, the island was one of the region’s busiest tin-mining hubs. Ships came and went, fortunes were made, and the island buzzed with traders looking for their slice of that silver-grey treasure.

The boom drew Chinese labourers and European merchants, and together they left a mark you can still stroll through today. Those colourful shophouses in Old Town — the pastel blues, soft pinks and ornate shutters — are the legacy of that era, a beautiful blend of Chinese detail and European flair.

So next time you sip a coffee on Thalang Road, remember: you’re sitting in what was once one of Phuket’s richest neighbourhoods, built on tin and wrapped in history.

OUT & ABOUT

Rawai’s Rainy-Day Refuge at Wilson’s Café

If it’s pouring in Rawai, this is exactly where you want to be: Big Breakky, Secret Matcha, and zero rush.

The rain hasn’t let up this week — and with flooding across parts of Phuket recently, has most of us are officially in “okay, where do we hide?” mode.
If you’re in the south, Wilson’s Café in Rawai is the warm, cosy breathing room the island desperately needs right now.

Step in from the wet streets and you’re greeted with foggy windows, soft lighting, and that glorious Nutella Latte smell that instantly fixes any monsoon mood. It’s one of those cafés where you can settle in for hours — book, laptop, or just your damp self — and no one rushes you.

Bring a novel, order a Secret Matcha Tea, and listen to the rain tapping the banana leaves outside. If you arrive hungry, their late-breakfast menu has your back (the Big Breakky hits different when the skies are grey). And if the rain keeps going, stay for their post-3pm dinner sets — salmon, steak, grilled chicken, all simple, warm, comforting.

If you’re feeling adventurous between showers, nearby stops like Phuket Art Village, Muay Thai gyms, and the laid-back Chalong Fishing Park make great detours.

But when the island is soaked and scooters are off the table?
Wilson’s is the place you actually want to be. Cozy, calm, and perfect for riding out the weather.
