Phuket is hosting Thailand’s first Ganesh Chaturthi Festival (Aug 27–31).

Ganesh Chaturthi is a Hindu festival celebrating the birth of Lord Ganesha, marked by prayers, music, colorful processions, and the immersion of Ganesha idols in water at the end of the celebrations.

Expect street parades in Old Town, daily rituals at Sri Mantra Ganesha Temple (Rawai), and the finale Visarjan at Rawai Beach.
Highlights: Dhol-Tasha drumlines, rangoli art, and the fiery evening aarti.

It’s more than a festival—it’s Phuket blending Thai and Indian culture, drawing thousands and boosting green-season energy.

Thailand Tightens Rules on Student Visas

The Immigration Bureau has enhanced its monitoring of foreign nationals entering Thailand on student visas after uncovering that thousands have obtained these visas without attending the required studies.

What’s going on:

  • Immigration says some foreigners are using student visas as cover to stay long-term without really studying.

  • Over 1,000 checks have already been done across Bangkok and major provinces.

  • Schools under investigation for issuing papers without real classes.

  • Foreigners found abusing visas could face cancellation, fines, or deportation.

If you’re legit, no problem.
Keep your attendance solid, paperwork clean, and fees paid.

Best Value, Fun Fishing in Phuket

Nothing but good vibes and fun fishin at Chalong Fishing Park

Phuket isn’t just about beaches and sunsets. It’s also about the simple joy of catching fish straight from the water, as fresh as the island vibe itself.

One family shared their experience, and it’s worth passing on.

What stood out:

  • 8 different fish caught in one visit — kept the day exciting.

  • Staff were friendly and bubbly from the start.

  • Two staff boys went all in to help their 6-year-old land a fish, even throwing out extra rods.

  • Big shout to Jezz, the owner — half an hour chatting and making guests feel welcome.

Perfect for families, especially if you’ve got kids.
Respect the team and they’ll give it right back.

Rawai Beach Clean-Ups

Photo: Rawai Municipality

Here’s the reality.
Tourists come, locals chill, tides roll in… and trash piles up.
Not anyone’s favorite part of living in paradise.

So what happened.
Rawai’s mayor got hands-on and joined locals for a beach clean-up.
Not just a photo-op. Actual bags filled, actual trash moved.
People showed up, worked together, and made the beach look the way it should.

Takeaway.
It’s simple. You want cleaner beaches, you can’t just wait for someone else. You show up. You put the gloves on. That’s how it gets done.

Best Way to Get Around Phuket

If you’ve lived here a while, you know transport is half the story.
Everyone’s got their own system — and their own opinion.

The big three:

  • Motorbike — fast, cheap, but you’re at the mercy of the rain.

  • Car — safe, comfy, but traffic + parking = stress.

  • Grab — no parking stress, but costs stack up quick.

What’s your go-to.
Which one wins for daily life in Phuket.
