Hello Phuket Peeps,

Your weekly hit of Phuket magic is here. From sandy toes to midnight snacks and the odd hidden gem, we’ve rounded up the island’s best so you can glide through the week like a local in the know. Think sunsets worth chasing, bites worth sharing, and happenings that keep this little rock buzzing.

Now, shall we see what the skies have in store? 🌅

WEATHER IN PHUKET

Sun and storms are tag-teaming this week. Highs around 30-31°C, sticky nights at 25–26°C. Keep an umbrella handy, but don’t skip the beach, clear breaks can be gorgeous.

STORIES FROM THE WEEK

Robots are moving in! Phuket just signed off on its bold AI City plan, and the first recruits are three “Dinsaw” medical aides heading to Vachira Hospital. Think check-ups with a side of sci-fi—these bots will help with screenings and elderly care, giving staff a breather. The project also promises smarter traffic, cleaner streets, and greener waste systems. Phuket’s not just a Smart City anymore, it’s aiming to be Thailand’s AI playground.

Phromthep Cape is set for a wind-powered glow-up. EGAT plans new turbines and an eco-tourism hub where visitors can learn, snap selfies, and soak up the sea breeze. Still on the drawing board, but if approved, expect sunsets framed by blades and a greener future.

At Merlin Beach, it was turtles over cocktails as Phuket Marriott released five little shells—King Julian, Mr. Turtle Junior, Flipper, Timmy, and Chokdee—back to the sea. The event mixed fun with purpose, spotlighting rising seas and the push to protect 30% of our oceans by 2030. A reminder that paradise isn’t just for us, but for the creatures who call it home.

MUST TRY MEALS

One Chun in Phuket Town

Haven’t tried One Chun in Phuket Town yet? Do yourself a favour. This family-run classic has been dishing out southern Thai flavours for generations, crab curry, hor mok pla, and that black sweet pork locals rave about. Michelin-approved, steps from Thalang Road, and yes, worth the weekend queues. See more here.

Meanwhile, if Korean cravings strike, Kathu just scored Little Seoul, a new unlimited grill buffet at only 289 baht per head (promo until Oct 10). Red tents, sizzling pork, endless side dishes, and sauces that hit every note from spicy to tangy. Kimchi fans—you’ll be in heaven. Check it out.

FUN FACT

Did you know that Thailand is the world’s biggest exporter of durian, shipping over 800,000 tonnes a year (mostly to China). But here’s the kicker—despite the spiky fruit’s “love it or hate it” reputation, it’s nicknamed the “King of Fruits” here. Thai growers even invented special varieties like Monthong (“Golden Pillow”) that are creamier and less pungent, making them more tourist-friendly.

OUT & ABOUT

KAIF Phuket: Your All-in-One Wellness Lifestyle Hub

If you thought Phuket had seen it all, think again. KAIF in Kathu isn’t just a gym, it’s the island’s largest sauna, full-on wellness hub, and social club rolled into one. Imagine this: sweat it out in a pro-level gym, dive into a 25m pool, roll through a Muay Thai class, then sink into a Russian-style banya session with sauna masters fanning eucalyptus-scented steam. Follow it up with an ice bath, massage, and a seriously decent feed from their on-site restaurant.

It’s the kind of place you can lose a whole day without even trying, a proper game-changer for Phuket’s central fitness and wellness scene.
